If you already have an 8-pole stator, this unit will replace yours if it has 5 wires. Note: Although this stator is for AC-fired systems, Trailmaster used it on their DC-fired system. They just leave the red/black wire disconnected inside the harness. This stator is the same unit in our STAGE 1 Electrical Upgrade Kit. If you’re looking to upgrade, be sure to get the whole kit too as your original flywheel won’t fit.

About the GY6 150cc 8 Pole Stator

The stator is the part of your engine that makes electrical power. On a GY6 150cc, 170cc or 175cc engine, a weak or failed stator can cause a battery that never stays charged, dim lights, a hard-starting engine, or no spark at all. This 8 pole stator magneto is a direct replacement that restores charging and ignition power so your machine runs reliably again.

Signs of a Failing Stator

• The battery goes flat even after a full charge.

Check the Pole Count

GY6 stators come in several versions, so it is important to match the number of poles and the plug style to your engine. This is the 8 pole version. Count the coils on your old stator or check the wiring plug before you order, and call us if you are unsure.

Installation Tips

Remove the flywheel cover and use a proper flywheel puller to take off the flywheel. Unbolt the old stator, route the new wiring the same way, and refit the grommet so oil cannot leak out. Torque the flywheel nut correctly and test the charging voltage at the battery once the engine is running.
