Gas vs Electric Golf Carts: Which Is Right for You?
Golf carts are used far beyond the course: on cottages, campgrounds, farms, resorts, gated communities and industrial sites. The first decision is gas or electric.
Electric golf carts
- Quiet and emission-free. Ideal for neighbourhoods, indoor facilities and campuses.
- Lower maintenance. No oil changes, spark plugs or fuel.
- Lithium batteries offer longer range, faster charging and less upkeep than lead-acid.
- Range depends on battery, terrain, load and temperature. Cold weather reduces range.
Gas golf carts
- Longer range and quick refuelling, good for large properties.
- More consistent power on hills and when towing.
- Need regular engine maintenance: oil, filters, plugs and belts.
Our recommendation
Choose electric for quiet, short-to-medium daily use with access to charging. Choose gas for long distances, hilly terrain, remote properties or heavy loads.
